Help and FAQ
The questions the counter is asked most. If your question is not here, email us or ask us to source what you cannot find on the site.
Trade accounts
Who can open a trade account?
Businesses buying for resale or for their own trade: retailers, market traders, online sellers, contractors and installers. We sell to businesses only, so we do not open accounts for private customers.
How long does approval take?
A person reviews every application, so there is no fixed turnaround and we do not promise one. Open the verification link in your email first, because we do not start the review until the address is confirmed. We email you the answer either way.
Do I need a company number or a VAT number?
No. Both are optional. Sole traders and market traders are welcome. If you are VAT registered, adding the number keeps your invoices right from the first order.
Can more than one person order on the account?
Yes. Each person gets their own sign-in on the same account, and orders they place are orders of the business. Ask us to add a user, and keep passwords to the person they belong to.
Ordering
Why can I not see any prices?
Trade prices ex VAT are shown only to signed-in, approved accounts. Sign in, or open a trade account and we will turn prices on when the application is approved.
Is there a minimum order?
There is a minimum order value on the site, shown in the basket when you are below it. Individual lines also have their own minimum, which is the case quantity shown on the product page.
Can I order a line you do not list?
Yes. Use "Ask us to source" with the product, the pack format and the quantity you can move. We come back by email with availability and a price.
Can I change or cancel an order after I place it?
Tell us straight away by replying to the order confirmation email. We can usually change an order that has not been picked. Once an order is packed or dispatched, the cancellation terms in the Terms of Sale apply.
Pallets and cases
Why are quantities in cases?
We are a wholesaler, so the case is the selling unit. The basket moves a case at a time and shows what the case holds, so you always know how many pieces you are buying.
Can I mix products on one pallet?
Yes. Most orders are mixed. Add the cases you want and we build the pallet; if you want the load built a particular way, say so in the delivery notes at checkout.
How do I know how many cases fit a pallet?
The pack ticket on every product and the pack sizes table give the case quantity and the cases per pallet where they are recorded. Ask us if a line does not show it yet.
Delivery
Where do you deliver?
Across the UK mainland. Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and overseas are by separate quotation; ask us before you order.
How much is delivery?
It is quoted at checkout from your postcode and the pallet or parcel format, and shown ex VAT on the order. Collection from our site is free.
What access does a pallet delivery need?
A road a large lorry can reach and a firm level surface for a pallet truck. Tell us in the delivery notes if the address is tight, if there are height or weight limits, or if you have a forklift.
Can I collect instead?
Yes, by appointment. Choose collection at checkout and we email you when the order is ready. Bring your order reference, and remember that the goods are released once payment has cleared on pro-forma orders.
Returns and claims
Something is damaged or missing. What do I do?
Note it on the driver's paperwork if you can see it on delivery, then raise the claim from your order page or by replying to the order confirmation email within 3 working days, with photographs of the goods, packaging and pallet label.
Can I return goods I no longer need?
Only by agreement in writing before you send anything back, and a restocking charge may apply. There is no general right of return for business customers, and goods that have been used or split from their packs cannot go back.
What does a clearance grade mean?
The grade is part of the description: grade A is as new, grade B has tired or opened packaging, grade C has marks or damage described line by line. The faults described by the grade are not a reason for a return.
How quickly are claims settled?
We aim to respond within 2 working days of having all the information and to settle an accepted claim within 10 working days, by replacement, refund or credit note.
Payment
How do I pay?
On account if your account has a credit limit, or by bank transfer against a pro-forma invoice. Choose at checkout. Nothing is charged online.
Can I pay by card?
Not on the site at the moment. Card payment is something we plan to add; until then it is on account or bank transfer.
When is the invoice due?
On the terms set for your account, which are shown on the account pages and on every invoice. Standard terms are 30 days from the invoice date unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
What happens if an invoice goes overdue?
The account goes on hold: you can still order, but checkout offers bank transfer only until the balance is cleared. The Terms of Sale set out interest and recovery costs on late payment.
Sourcing
You do not list what I want. Can you get it?
Usually. Most of the general-merchandise trade is sourced to order for us. Send the line, the pack format and the quantity and we will come back with availability and a price.
What should I include in a sourcing request?
The product or range with a photo, link or parts list, what you sell, the quantity you can take, whether you want cases or pallets, the delivery postcode and when you need the goods.
How does a sourced-to-order line work at checkout?
You order it in the normal way. The order is held while we confirm availability and price by email, and nothing is dispatched or charged until you have that confirmation.
Do you hold stock for a regular order?
We can look at it. If you can commit to a regular quantity of a line, tell us the volume and the delivery day and we will discuss holding it at one of our sites for you.
Still stuck?
Email us at [email protected]. For a line we do not list, send a sourcing request and we will come back with availability and a price by email.
